Sabean and Bochy to be Back in San Francisco Next Year

Today, I stumbled upon this gem in the Fanposts of McCovey Chronicles after the Giants' 7-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, which completed the series sweep (a little too late, huh boys?)

Basically, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy will be back as Giants General Manager and Field Manager next season.

San Jose Mercury Giants Beat Writer Andrew Baggarly seemed to confirm the same things as well, also mentioning that Sabean and Bochy will be both signed to multi-year deals.

Overall, I'm not too happy with owner Bill Neukom's decision to bring back both Bochy and Sabean. However, I had a feeling if Sabean was coming back, so was Bochy just because Bochy seems to be Sabean's guy and Sabean has always been more than patient with managers in the past (he gave Felipe Alou four years for chrissakes!).

I'm mostly unhappy with the decision because you get the feeling that if somebody else other than Sabean was running the front office, and somebody other than Bochy was making the lineups, this team could have had made the playoffs, especially with the Dodgers struggling right now. Yet because Bochy insisted on batting Bengie Molina in the four-hole and playing Randy Winn and Aaron Rowand over Nate Schierholtz, the Giants feel just short of the playoffs.

All I know, is Sabean and Bochy better deliver next year and make the playoffs. If they don't, then they shouldn't be back in 2011, bottom line.

So Sabes and Boch, congrats on your re-signings. Now go out and get somebody who can score some freaking runs, and learn how to make up a decent lineup, okay?
