Sure, he provides nice relief, but to think he's going to put up the numbers he is putting up over a full course of a season I think isn't a possibility. If you look at his career, Whiteside isn't a major league catcher. I can live with Molina, just because he's proven? But Whiteside over Posey to me isn't logical.

Scott: I agree. When you put in that much financial commitment and he is producing at the Triple-A, then you have to play him. This is what kills the Giants. They don't give any of their young players shots because there is this mindset that "Oh, Triple-A stats don't mean anything" from the management. How are they going to prove they can play at the MLB level if they are not given extended shots?

Seriously, and I know a lot of people are saying "the pitchers love Whiteside" but this is professional ball. The Giants have made financial commitments to Posey. The Giants have made financial commitments to Molina. Thus, Whiteside should be the odd man out because a.) they have less to lose parting with him and b.) he can't compare talent-wise to the both of them.

The only thing I believe will keep this from being a reality is the fact that Molina seems adamant about not sharing the spotlight with Posey. So, while I would love to see Posey and Molina split, Bengie seems to be as open to that as Favre was to mentoring Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.Kevin O'Brienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00114732419318117049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5723610406379824887.post-40582953824248129922010-05-11T13:44:04.400-07:002010-05-11T13:44:04.400-07:00He is the top prospect in the organization and rea...He is the top prospect in the organization and really should be given a shot and not be blocked by marginal major leaguers and aging veterans.

Financially and long term waiting until mid to late June would be the ideal time to bring him up and no earlier than May 20th. To maximize team controlled years.

At the very least he needs to replace Whiteside and start 3 games a week at catcher to keep Bengie fresh. Bengie may be a better bat right now but he ran out of gas at the end of last year and Posey could and should keep his bat productive for the last stretch of the season.Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02085418414733448845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5723610406379824887.post-57515064082913975672010-05-11T13:26:38.940-07:002010-05-11T13:26:38.940-07:00Despite the fact that wed love to see Posey up her...Despite the fact that wed love to see Posey up here, what is the real advantage? We've got two solid catchers going that our pitching staff adores. There is no guarantee that Posey will provide the same production that we're getting now. Yes, Id love to see, Posey, but I almost don't see the point.DPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10996874042290490152noreply@blogger.com
